Roxy another 4 year old, almost 5, again not with a lot of experience and only her first show was really good and jumped a double clear coming 3rd and in the next class just had 4 faults in the jump off still coming 3rd. Another really good day considering neither horses had jumped more than two fences at home and certainly not a double, oxer or related distance.
We took two new rides which I only gained earlier in the week to their first ever show. Whinstone a 4 year old cob, who was only backed at the beginning of this year was really good, although did throw me off in the warm up, but jumped a lovely clear round.

Now that Olly is back in work we took him to limes farm to jump the British novice where he was really good and won! It was a really hot day making him quite tired, so we just did the one class. But a very good day!
The first of many beach rides to come this year. We took 4 of my pupils to Sandwich Bay, for a ride in the Sea which went really well and everybody really enjoyed it!
I rode Lilly- Colette’s little pony who went really well in the 60cm coming 4th and then an unlucky 4 faults in the 70cm so we decided to go round again HC were she jumped a lovely clear, until the jump off where we had a very dramatic fall. luckily both we OK.
Pictures from Quantum photographic. The pony that has never stopped in his life (Olly) but recently started stopping is now back in full work after having a couple of weeks off due to back problems which are now all fixed (we hope).
So we took him & Brook to a lesson with ex international ShowJumper Lionel Dunning. Olly was really good, although not very fit yet after his time off, and did everything Lionel asked us to do really well. Brook was also very good and impressed Lionel a lot with her jumping. We took her to see what he thought as to whether she would jump fox hunter and if so if she would go any further. That question was answered with ease so we are very excited as to how far she is going to go. In the Grand Prix both horses were tired so each had one down, but we were really pleased with the whole week.
Team cup qualifier- Again another unlucky pole in the speed round.
Accumulator- a really good afternoon coming 5th with not even a seconds difference to the winner. Team cup qualifier- just as we were about to go in stood in the funnel, she decided that she didn’t actually like it and didn’t want to go near the ring so span round onto the concrete, making a big kerfuffle with all the other horses before rearing up and going over backwards on the concrete. Luckily everyone was OK, so I jumped back on and had to go straight in the ring. She was a bit wound up so wasn’t concentrating at all and had three down.
Accumulator- By the afternoon she had calmed down and went really well coming 3rd by only 1 second. Warm up- he did a nice round just a bit spooky so an unlucky pole where he wasn’t looking at the jump and just didn’t really take off.
Team cup qualifier- Another unlucky pole. In the warm up class she was really good, we were really expecting her to stop at least once to have a look at the fences, as she’s never seen anything like that before. But she jumped clear in the first round, even if it was a bit sticky. In the jump off I turned up tight to a few fences which wasn’t planned as I was meant to be taking it steady to get her round nicely, but she was really good and just had one down, through hesitating and putting in an extra stride.
In the team cup qualifier she did a lovely smooth round and we were so pleased, until the bell rang because i'd got a time fault! |
