My first part of training towards being a course builder went very well at the BSJA show @ Norton Heath, although it was a very early morning! We aimed to get home around 2.30 so I could ride, but I ended up riding a friend’s horse, which I was very unprepared for! All I had was jeans & a jumper, & luckily a pair of riding boots in the car! No hat, jacket or shirt, but Shelley who owns the horse let me use her hat & jacket which luckily fitted.
I got all my gear on and went and met the horse (who id never even seen before, let alone ridden), then popped a few fences in the warm up & got to know him a bit.
I jumped the last class which was a very big 1m open & 1.10 in the jump off! But Murphy- Craugh’s Choreographer was very well behaved and just had one down in the jump off, but a very fast time which probably would have put me in the top 2 if it wasn’t for the pole! But considering we didn’t know each other at all, I thought it went really well.
